In the past two years, dozens of Vietnamese journalists and human rights defenders have been unjustly detained by the Vietnamese authorities. We publicly condemn the Vietnamese authorities’ blatant suppression of freedom of speech and serious violations of the human rights of the Vietnamese people. We urge the Vietnamese authorities to immediately release the journalists and human rights defenders who have been unjustly detained, and we also call on the international community to impose sanctions on the Vietnamese authorities.
