| Given the Hamas terrorist organization’s continued refusal to release all hostages and to surrender, the prospect of achieving peace in Gaza has become unattainable. Accordingly, we are rescinding our previous decision to recognize the State of Palestine. With regard to the Israeli government’s decision to fully occupy the Gaza Strip, we do not take any particular position. |
| We will continue to closely monitor both the humanitarian crisis affecting innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip and the safety of the hostages held by Hamas. We urge Hamas to immediately and unconditionally release all hostages, and we call upon the Israeli government to take all possible measures to avoid civilian casualties while pursuing its operations against Hamas. |
