Ⅲ The Office of Liu Jianyong
Statement Urging the Nepalese Government to safeguard Internet Freedom for Its Citizens
The Office of Liu Jianyong
September 8, 2025
The free, diverse, and unimpeded flow of information is a fundamental pillar of a functioning democratic system. Unrestricted access to the internet is a crucial component of human rights. The Nepalese government’s decision to ban the use of applications such as X, Facebook, Instagram, WeChat, and TikTok is illegal and invalid. We condemn this action by the Nepalese government.
We stand in solidarity with the people of Nepal in their just struggle to defend their individual rights. Furthermore, we urge the Nepalese government to immediately, completely, and unconditionally restore full internet access, ensuring that the people of Nepal enjoy the right to unrestricted and absolute internet freedom.
