Statement on the ICC's arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Galant |
The Office of Liu Jianyong |
November 22, 2024 |
On November 21, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Galant. We regret this decision. |
As we all know, Hamas is a political group, armed force, and terrorist organization that uses extreme religion as a means of ruling. On October 7, 2023, Hamas launched a terrorist attack on Israel that shocked the world. The attack killed more than 1,200 innocent people and more than 250 people were taken hostage by Hamas. In response, Israel had to launch a counterattack against Hamas entrenched in the Gaza Strip. According to international law, Israel has an unquestionable right to self-defense. |
Hamas has long used Gaza civilians as shields and hostages to defraud humanitarian aid from countries around the world, and has converted aid funds into the power to launch terrorist attacks again and again. Hamas hides among Gaza civilians and uses civilian casualties as an excuse to put Israel in an unjust position, and calls on countries around the world to pressure Israel to cease fire under the pretext of humanitarianism. Therefore, a ceasefire will only benefit Hamas, protect the foundation on which terrorism depends for survival, and allow terrorist acts to continue day after day and never be eradicated. |
Fighting back against terrorism and rescuing hostages will inevitably cause civilian casualties, but not fighting back and not rescuing hostages will allow terrorist acts to succeed. This is a dilemma, and the Israeli government chose the former. We understand and support the Israeli government's choice, and call on the Israeli government to do its best to reduce civilian casualties in Gaza when fighting Hamas. |
At this moment, we reiterate our support for the Israeli government and once again call on the Israeli government to do its utmost to minimize casualties among innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip when using armed self-defense . |
We respect the decision of the International Criminal Court, but we also call on the United States, Canada, Britain, France, Germany, Australia and other countries not to execute the arrest warrant. |
